A stable, highly flexible cement thin bed mortar for ceramic tiles and thing gaged slab tiles, fine stoneware, porcelain mosaic in the interior, exterior and submerged areas according to EN 12 004 C2FTE-S2 and ANSI A 118.4. Due to the very acrylic polymer content, Servolight S2 SuperTec is perfectly suited for installations over 28 day old concrete, gypsum based fiberboards, plasterboards, heated screed based on cement or calcium sulphate (pay attention to the additional norms and instructions), aerated concrete, OSB board and specified Plywood in dry applications.
Suitable for use on balconies, patios and on facades as well as for installation of glass mosaics in underwater applications.
Suitable to compensate for any unevenness in the surface (such as masonry, plaster and screed) up to a layer thickness of 9/16” / 15 mm before tile installation.
The substrate must be sound, clean and stable. Prime absorbent surfaces with Okatmos® DSG or Okatmos® UG 30 indoors. Prime calcium sulphate screeds with Okatmos® DSG or Okapox GF when exciding mortar thickness over 5 mm/ 3/16”.
Expansion joints shall be provided through the tile work from all construction or expansion joints in the substrate. Follow recent TTMAC and ANSI specification A108.01-3.7 “Requirements for Movement Joints:
Preparations by Other Trades” or Tile Council of North America (TCNA) detail EJ-171 “Movement Joints—
Vertical & Horizontal.” Do not cover expansion joints with mortar.
Thoroughly clean non-absorbent substrates, e.g. Terrazzo, old ceramic coverings with an alkaline basic cleaner, allow to dry and prime with Okatmos® DSG or Okatmos® UG 30.
Thoroughly clean old, firmly adhering homogeneous VCT coverings in a dry indoor area with an alkaline basic cleaner, allow to dry, sand and vacuum with an industrial vacuum cleaner. Then prime with Okatmos® UG 30 or Okatmos® DSG. Check local building laws/recommendations when dealing with asbestos-based VCT. Follow additional installation and floor preparation guidelines located in the latest TTMAC and TCNA installation manuals.
Double layered plywood substrates must be dry, APA-rated, Type 1, COFI Group exterior-grade plywood, certified CANPLY (SELECT) or (SEL-TF) CSA 121, minimum 32 mm (1 ¼“) total thickness in residential and light commercial and dry conditions only. Refer to ANSI A 108 AN-2 “General Requirements for Sub surfaces” and the Tile Council of North America’s “Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation” for detailed information on surface preparation and guidelines for substrate construction. Provide expansion joints and control joints as specified per TCNA Detail EJ171; #301-MJ or TTMAC Specification Guide. Follow plywood installation guidelines and requirements located in Tile Council of North America’s “Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation” and TTMAC Specification Guide. Follow deflection allowance in accordance with ASTM C627 Standard test method. In some cases, the maximum deflection must not exceed L/720.
Mix Servolight S2 SuperTec with clean, cool water to a smooth texture using a proper amount of water. If necessary, adjust mortar consistency by adding small quantities of water. Allow mixture to slake for approx. 5 minutes and mix again. Use appropriate notched trowel (see table) to apply mortar onto a substrate, slide the covering material into the adhesive bed within 30 minutes and press tightly. Depending on the absorbency of the substrate/covering corrections can be made within 25 minutes.
