Fast setting, flexible, acrylic polymer modified, cement-based thin-set and medium bed mortar with polymer additive for application layers of up to 25/32“ (20 mm) for interior and exterior installations according EN 12 004 C2 FE-S1 and ANSI A 118.4. Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) is especially formulated to provide full mortar transfer to avoid air entrapments between mortar and covering without the disadvantage of floating bed mortar billowing through joints. Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) fast setting will hold heavy stone and tile without sagging on horizontal applications. Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) is especially suitable for large modular ceramic tile installations, porcelain stoneware and natural stone coverings on limited form stable substrates such as heated screed (please follow the respective regulations and data sheets), in situ concrete (at least 3 months old) and similar.
By increasing the water content to approx. 1.8 U.S. gals. (7.0 liters) per bag, you yield a pourable floating bed mortar allowing an even installation without air pockets. In this case back buttering-floating technique may not be necessary. Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) will hold the heavy stone, large tiles without sagging. Heated floors can be operational after three days only* (please follow additional local and manufacturer specifications).
Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) as a flexible thin and medium bed mortar:
The substrate must be sound, clean and stable. If installation occurs on shrinking substrates, frequent expansion joints should be included in the layout. Prime absorbent substrates in interior areas with Okatmos® DSG or Okatmos® UG 30. Allow a drying time of at least 24 hours over calcium sulphate screed. For layers thicker than 5 mm on calcium sulphate screed, prime with Okapox GF and level indents with Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set). Prime non-absorbent substrates with Okatmos® UG 30. In exterior areas apply a contact layer of adhesive mortar and let it set.
Double layered plywood substrates must be dry, APA-rated, Type 1, COFI Group exterior-grade plywood, certified CANPLY (SELECT) or (SEL-TF) CSA 121, minimum 32 mm (1 ¼ “) total thickness in residential and light commercial and dry conditions only. Refer to ANSI A 108 AN-2 “General Requirements for Sub surfaces” and the Tile Council of North America’s “Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation” for detailed information on surface preparation and guidelines for substrate construction. Provide expansion joints and control joints as specified per TCNA Detail EJ171; #301-MJ or TTMAC Specification Guide. Follow plywood installation guidelines and requirements located in Tile Council of North America’s “Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation” and TTMAC Specification Guide. Follow deflection allowance in accordance with ASTM C627 Standard test method. In some cases, the maximum deflection must not exceed L/720. Follow additional installation and floor preparation guidelines located in the latest TTMAC and TCNA installation manuals.
Contact Kiesel technical department for additional recommendations related to the tile sizes and installation over approved double layered plywood.
Mix Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) with cool, clean water to a smooth texture, using a proper amount of water. Allow mixture to slake for approx. 5 minutes and remix again. Uneven substrates can be levelled during the installation. In case of unevenness up to ¾ “ (20 mm) apply a levelling coat with floating bed consistency and allow it to cure for at least 24 hours before starting the installation. Apply a non-porous coat of Servoflex-Trio-schnell SuperTec (Quick set) with an appropriately sized trowel onto the substrate, slide in the covering material within 25 minutes and press tightly. Depending on the absorbency of the substrate/covering corrections can be made within 25 minutes.
