- ⚠️ Note: This product does not replace waterproofing membranes in accordance with DIN EN 18533 / DIN 18534
Okapox GF is a 2-component, low-viscosity epoxy resin primer, formulated without solvents or water. It is designed for absorbent and non-absorbent substrates as a preparatory layer before levelling and installation work. The product serves as both a moisture barrier and a vapour barrier (sd-value = 200 m at, at least 0,5 mm thickness), making it suitable for subsequent installation of resilient elastic, textile and tile coverings, engineered wood flooring, and in areas exposed to high humidity, such as steam showers.
Typical Applications:
- Moisture barrier for cementitious substrates
- Vapour barrier in wet zones and steam-intensive environments
- Primer for calcium sulphate screeds and other sensitive subfloors
- Priming layer reinforced with Kiesel Alumino-Silicate glass fiber mesh for added stability
- Used as a binder in the preparation of epoxy-based mortars and screeds, e.g. for drainage systems
All substrates must be inspected and prepared in accordance with national standards and the current BEB data sheet (“Assessment and Preparation of Substrates”)¹.
- Apply a Kiesel levelling or patching compound at a minimum thickness of 2 mm.
- Ensure full system compatibility when combining with other Kiesel products.
Proper substrate preparation ensures optimal adhesion and long-term performance.
¹ Published by the German Federal Association for Screed and Coverings (BEB), the BEB data sheet outlines industry-standard procedures for evaluating and preparing substrates prior to flooring installation.
Mixing
- Open the base container A as well as the hardener container B. Pour comp. B into comp. A
- Mix both components thoroughly using an electric stirrer until the mixture is streak-free
- Decant the mixture into a clean container and remix to ensure complete homogenization
Application Methods
- Apply using a lambskin roller or TKB B1 trowel
- For moisture-sensitive substrates, apply a second coat or follow with Okatmos® EG 20 or UG 30
- As a moisture barrier, apply at 500 g/m², suitable for up to 7.0 CM-% residual moisture in concrete
Accelerated Curing
- Add 300 g of Okapox Accelerator per 3.5 kg Okapox GF
- Reduces curing time to approximately 3.5–4 hours
Epoxy Mortar / Drainage Screed
- For epoxy mortar: Mix 1 kg Okapox GF with up to 7 kg quartz sand (grain size 0.6– 1.2 mm)
- For drainage screeds: Mix in a 1:25 ratio with Kiesel DEZ additive
⚠️ Important: Always protect freshly applied layers from direct sunlight, heat, and air drafts. For exterior use (e.g., balconies, terraces), observe proper slope design, drainage layouts, and follow installation standards.
